We understand squint

Meeting new people. Work presentations. Having photos taken. These are just some of the situations where a squint can hold you back.

You constantly worry about what people think of your eyes. On the outside, you may seem confident, but inside, your self-esteem has suffered for years. And for some, there’s the added weight of childhood teasing that never quite fades.

Nobody truly understands the emotional burden of a squint except the person living with it. Friends and family might say it’s nothing, but deep down, you know it affects you every single day. We hear this from our patients all the time—and we understand.

Squint surgery isn’t for anyone else. It’s for you. A chance to look in the mirror and feel good about what you see. A chance to regain confidence in every interaction. Book an appointment today and take the first step toward a life-changing transformation.

We understand double vision

Seeing two of everything. Constant blur and defocus. Objects from the side appearing in the center of your vision. Struggling with distances, steps, and everyday tasks. Unable to drive. Unable to enjoy the sports you love.

You’re tired of relying on costly prism glasses that only seem to get stronger every year. You just want the freedom of clear, single vision again.

We hear from our patients how double vision has taken over their lives, turning even the simplest tasks into daily struggles. And because there’s often nothing visible to others, no one truly understands what you’re going through.

Only those living with double vision know how life-changing it would be to see clearly again. And that’s where we can help. Book an appointment today and take the first step toward restoring your vision—and your freedom.

People who do their homework choose Mr Ali
Dr Nadeem Ali
Mr Nadeem Ali is a world expert in the diagnosis and surgical treatment of Squint (Strabismus) and Double Vision, specifically in adults.

There are many eye surgeons who do mainly cataract and a bit of squint surgery on the side. There are many who so squint surgery in kids and a bit of adult squint surgery on the side.

He holds the following degrees:

  • MA – Triple First class (Cambridge)
  • MB BChir with distinction (Cambridge)
  • MRCOphth (Royal College of Ophthalmologists, London)

Born in the North East of England, Mr Ali attended the Royal Grammar School, Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

He studied medicine at the University of Cambridge and graduated with a Triple First Class degree.

His College, Gonville and Caius, was the leading medical college at the University and boasts alumni such as William Harvey (who discovered the circulation of the blood) and Francis Crick (who discovered DNA). During his undergraduate years, he was selected for a Summer Research Programme at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory, New York, the labs of James Watson (the other discovered of DNA), where he studied the developing visual system with Neuroscientist Prof Hollis Cline. He also completed his undergraduate degree in Neurophysiology, conducting research with Prof Roger Carpenter, a pioneer of eye movement research.

He won 15 academic prizes and was top student of the University in medicine for two years of his course. He was also awarded the prestigious Schuldham Plate, given to the top-performing student over all academic subjects, over the three years of undergraduate study.

He completed his medical school at the University of Cambridge Clinical School, graduating with distinction.

Mr Ali completed his general Ophthalmic training in the North East of England.

He then pursued a Fellowship with Mike Clarke, a world-expert on squint and double vision, who taught him much of what he knows.

After that, he undertook a fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology at the National Hospital for Neurology and Neurosurgery, Queen Square wher he gained experience in complex neurological causes of double vision.

He also did a Fellowship Squint and Double Vision surgery at the world-renowned Moorfields Eye Hospital in London.

He was then one of the youngest Consultants at that time appointed to the role of Consultant Eye Surgeon at Moorfields Eye Hospital.

Testimonials

"Mr Nadeem Ali has given me a new chance at life. I have had double vision since the age of 3 and was told I would never be able to have it corrected. I had worn prisms since then, but now I no longer have to thanks to the surgery I had with Mr Ali. He is an outstanding surgeon with excellent patient rapport. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who needs help with squint or double vision. Thank you so much!"

- Ms A.S. – Australia

"During a routine annual medical check as an airline pilot, I was found to have a convergent squint. The aviation medical examiners grounded me with immediate effect as this squint rendered me unfit to fly. Mr Ali was recommended to me by another consultant. His opinion and approach to my treatment was extremely professional and thorough. He explained all the options to me and I underwent squint surgery. The outcome was an immediate success and my Class 1 medical was restored. This was an astonishing result and one that was achieved so smoothly and professionally. I have no hesitation in recommending Mr Ali to any prospective patients."

- Capt XXX (name supplied)

"As someone who has suffered with a squint for many years, I was pleased to be referred to Mr Ali. He was very professional and knowledgeable and helped me understand my squint and treatment options. I had squint surgery and it went well. The aftercare has been amazing and I am very happy with the results. My only regret is not seeking treatment earlier! I can highly recommend Mr Ali and his team at the Moorfields eye hospital."

- Mrs M.S. – Canterbury
